Biometric Technologies New Zealand Limited (BTL) is a wholly owned New Zealand company specializing in the development of innovative and world leading biometric solutions. BTL is committed to furthering the understanding and acceptance of biometric technology within New Zealand and internationally.

BTL was formed in early 2005 to develop and market a series of new technology products for biometric recognition which have resulted from several years of intensive academic research and patented developments. Together with respected solution and partners, BTL aims to be at the forefront of biometric technological development, across a wide spectrum of technologies, including facial and finger print recognition, voice identification, and the incorporation of iris recognition technology into verification and identification systems.

Since that time, BTL have developed several key products and services designed to assist our clients in offering customers, citizens and communities with enhanced security and relationship management tools. BTL strives to match in-depth research and expertise with robust systems to improve our clients identification and verification needs.

In February 2006 BTL received investment from Gallagher Group Ltd, a New Zealand security company, specialising in animal management and security solutions (access control, alarms and perimeter security solutions). Gallagher Group Ltd subsequently acquired 100% of the share of BTL in October 2006.
